Oh my goodness did I have a wonderful time at my favorite motel, The Barking Spot. The Skipper—that crazy woman who got me from the pound a few years ago—brought me over so I didn’t have to sail with her and Jeff over to Fish Creek. After the Skipper left, Robin brought me to my room where I was able to relax and get reacquainted with my friends. Once in awhile I joined the singing and added a few quality notes to the chorus. (If I say so myself I sounded pretty good.) Although the singing is enjoyable, my very favorite thing about the motel is the many fine scents riding the air 24/7! That and the singing and tail wagging really take it out of a girl so I slept good that night.
When the Skipper picked me up I heard all about the sail over to Fish Creek. Skipper Mary and Jeff (I really like him because he invites me to hop on the bed when we’re at home) said it took 5 hours to cross the 18 miles of Bay of Green Bay. They were happy to finally tie up in their slip in the Fish Creek Town Dock. They said it took them so long to get there because the winds were fluky. I imagine sailors who know what they’re doing could have made it there a lot faster even in “fluky” winds. I tell you, sometimes I just wonder if those two know what they’re doing up there. They said I wouldn’t have liked the leftovers from Fish Creek’s trendy restaurant, Mr. Helsinki, as the food is called Pan Asian and it had strange spices in it that give me the burps.
Skipper Mary and Jeff left Fish Creek real early on Sunday so they could get me from the motel before the noon pickup deadline. Whew! I’m glad it didn’t take them as long to sail west as it did for them to sail east. They must have used the motor.
Well, that’s pretty much it. Even though I enjoy the motel and my friends that stay there—even Bob the Bulldog despite his slobbering problem—it’s good to be home. Playing Frisbee in my backyard is more fun than the Barking Spot, and it’s sooo much better than being on that damn boat. From now on, I hope every time they go sailing they let me chill at the motel. ![]()
