We met while working for competing publications in Michigan's UP when Jeff was city editor of the Mining Journal and Mary was publisher of Marquette Monthly. We got married, spent a year teaching English in China, then resettled south of the border in the Wisconsin woods where Jeff teaches English at the community college and continues the transformation of our home's lawn into garden.
Mary was honored to serve as Rhinelander's mayor but is happy to be back at her writing and cooking which ranges from Chinese dan dan mien to Finnish pannukakku and a continuing quest to create a respectable hot beef sandwich.
Rounding out our crew is Cap'n Keksi, a soulful sheltie who is not a fan of sailing but does love hanging around the marina where she has many interesting friends like Teak, Buddy, Chance and ZouZou. Then there's the Nestegg crew and other boaters who offer her a pat on the head or a biscuit, or both. One summer friend is known to get into deep dockside philosophical conversations with her and, although we're not sure what has been discovered, they both seem to enjoy it.
Revision's occasional crew includes family and friends with roots in Wisconsin and Michigan, some who've sailed before and some who haven't. It's an adventure and we enjoy having them aboard, especially when the crazy Yoopers jump overboard in the middle of the bay for a swim.
While underway we have two simple rules: 1. Everyone (except the Cap'n who stays below) wears a lifejacket, and; 2. No alcohol is consumed.
